Empty Bowls is an international grassroots effort to fight hunger. The basic premise is simple: Potters and other craftspeople, educators and others work with the community to create handcrafted bowls. Guests are invited to a simple meal of soup and bread. In exchange for a cash donation, guests are asked to keep a bowl as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the world. The money raised is donated to an organization working to end hunger and food insecurity
The first annual Norcross Empty Bowls Event took place on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Peachtree Corners Presbyterian Church. We met our goal of raising $3,000 for Norcross Co-op!
Here's how the event works: Join us on March 12, 2016 for a simple meal of homemade soup and bread in exchange for a cash donation. You may choose a beautiful handmade bowl (donated by potters & others) to keep as a reminder of all the empty bowls in our community and in our world.
We ask for a minimum $15 donation/person. All proceeds benefit Norcross Cooperative Ministry.
For Potters and others who want to donate bowls, please contact Ellen McCorkle.
